About the Process Technology Program

The Process Technology Program prepares graduates for entry-level careers as process technologists/operators in the petrochemical, plastics, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals industries. Although duties may differ based on the industry, a process technician is trained to operate and maintain specialized equipment that produces intermediate or final products from raw materials, such as crude oil, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, plastic materials, and refinery products. The salary for a process technician is $77,768, with a possible cash compensation of $3,877 for those in Houston.

*Two year AAS degrees have Level 2 certificates that are one year programs.

About the Instrumentation Technology Program

The Instrumentation Technology degree program trains students for entry-level careers as instrument technicians in the chemical process industry. They are qualified to work in refineries, power generation, food and beverage, and other related fields. While duties may differ based on the industry, an instrument technician’s responsibility is to maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and replace the instruments process technicians primarily operate. The average salary for an instrumentation technician is $75,760.
