Abstract:

For most industrial facilities, control system alarms are the primary means to let the Operator know something’s wrong. So what happens when that alarm system hinders the Operator more than it helps? The problem seems overwhelming, and the alarms you thought provided risk protection are actually doing the opposite.

This technical program will help participants understand common alarm management challenges and tackle structured approaches to cultivate an alarm system that supports Operators, rather than getting in their way, in any facility—large or small.

Stephen’s Bio: 

Stephen has worked as an alarm management consultant for almost 20 years now. A large part of that was with a large DCS vendor, and then with several smaller vendor-independent consultants. Most of his work has been in Oil & Gas and Chemicals, but also in Power Generation and Pulp & Paper.

His primary role is leading his clients through various stages of the alarm management lifecycle.
