As we prepare to kick off the 2013-14 Section year on August 7th with a meeting focusing on level measurement. I want to mention that our monthly programs for this year will be based upon the six major categories of the NCEES Control Systems Exam Specification. Thus there will be a couple of programs on Measurement; one on Signals, Transmission, and Networking; one on Final Control Elements; two on Control Systems; one on Safety Systems; and one relating to Codes, Standards, and Regulations.
In addition we will have our annual meeting on Ethics, a PE/CSE program, and our end-of-year Scholarship
The CSE Review Course is set for Thursday, August 15 through Saturday, August 17 at BP’s Westlake Campus
and the CSE Study Groups will be meeting on Wednesday nights, August 21 through October 23. Check the
Section website and your email inbox for more details!
It may not be “chili weather” right now, but it is not too early to make plans for the 2013 Expo & Chili Cook Off, November 14th at the Houston Farm & Ranch Club. This Fall Event continues to grow and this year will be the biggest and best ever! If you are a manufacturer or distributor of automation products or services you will want to participate in this event. More information is available on the website. The Early Bird special ends July 31, so don’t put it off!
If you are an end user or specifying engineer, encourage your contacts in the industry to get involved in this great fund-raising event, the proceeds of which are invested in ISA Houston Section educational activities and scholarships.
Finally, you will be hearing soon about a new opportunity we will be bringing you, one that is less formal and structured than our monthly General Meetings. The ISA Houston Section board has voted to move forward with an after work social/networking event, initially on a quarterly basis. You will be hearing more about this very soon!
It should be an exciting year. I hope to see you at a meeting or event soon!
