SUMMARY:Process Safety: Examining the Layers
DESCRIPTION:Instructions: \nDownload and install Zoom software if necessary \nRegister in advance for this meeting: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0vcOGuqjIpH9bEHMTZrWmRL2_ZaK1PW4cs \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \nYou may join the meeting starting at approximately 11:00 am for socializing and announcements \nThe presentation will begin at 11:30 am \nAbstract: \nHow do you know if your process operates at an acceptable risk level? Process Safety is all about reducing risk. Find out what tolerable risk means\, and how to employ layers of protection to reduce the inherent risks of operating a production facility to a tolerable level. Each of the layers – basic process control interlocks\, operator response to alarms\, safety instrumented systems (SIS)\, pressure relief devices and others – have their pros and cons\, as well as specifications around use. Let’s examine the tradeoffs associated with these layers when employing a process safety program. \nPresenter: Scott Hayes \n \nScott Hayes is the DCSNext Portfolio Manager at Rockwell Automation. He is a licensed control systems engineer with more than 20 years of experience leading automation projects\, as well as hands-on configuring and networking of DCS\, PLC\, HMI\, process historian and visualization solutions. He has process control experience in upstream and downstream oil and gas\, petrochemical\, pulp and paper\, and discrete manufacturing. As a TÜV-certified functional safety engineer\, he is the process safety SME for MAVERICK Technologies. \n
