President’s Corner
Ken Belteau President, ISA Houston Section President’s Corner
September President’s Message ISA EXPO 2008 is fast approaching. It’s being held at the Reliant Center 14-16 October and offers plenty of training, professional development, networking, and volunteer opportunities. To obtain a complimentary admission to EXPO, go to www.isa.org/isaexpo and enter promo code P12349BJ. To obtain free admission to training sessions through volunteer participation, contact the section’s host committee chairman at john.campbell@conocophillips.com. The section’s annual chili cook-off is scheduled for Thursday, 20 November 2008 at the Houston Farm & Ranch at Bear Creek off of Highway 6. I encourage you to consider how participation as an exhibitor, team member, or chili-eater can benefit you, your company, and your vendor-suppliers. The September section meeting features a dynamic presentation on OPC: Myths and Misconceptions – What is the Truth about OPC? by Jeremy Eves, Gulf Coast Regional Manager with MatrikonOPC. Remember that regular attendance at the section’s meetings and activities entitles you to nominate a deserving college student for one of the section’s generous annual scholarship awards. I look forward to seeing you at the section’s monthly meetings, its scheduled training sessions, the upcoming chili cook-off, the annual golf tournament on 16 March 2009, the 55th ISA International Instrumentation Symposium in Galveston 6-10 April 2009, the ISA Analysis Symposium 19-23 April 2009, and at EXPO 2008. The Houston Analysis Subsection and the Pipeline Subsection also have a slate of programs and activities that may pertain to your interests or meet some of your career needs. Make full use of your ISA membership. If you have any questions about the way your section resources are being utilized or suggestions about how they can be better directed, please contact me at 713 627 4467. Ken Belteau |
