Abstract:
This presentation will give a high level overview of Process Control, introduce PID Control, and review PID Loop tuning methods and examples. We will also have a Q&A session as time allows.

Presenter: Matt Petras – Senior Controls Application Engineer, ControlSoft
Matt Petras received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron in 1993. Since 1999 Matt has been a member of the Project Engineering team at ControlSoft Inc., in Highland Heights, Ohio.
As a senior controls application engineer at ControlSoft, Matt’s project experience includes PID loop tuning, control loop performance monitoring, model predictive control applications, and exposure to a multitude of different control systems. His control applications have been implemented in a variety of process industries, including building products and materials, chemicals, food and beverage, glass, extrusion, HVAC, metals, mining, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, power generation, pulp and paper, and water and wastewater treatment both in the US and internationally. Matt is known for providing exceptional service and exceeding customers’ expectations.
In addition to project engineering, Matt serves as one the training instructors for ControlSoft’s PID Loop Tuning, Advanced Process Control Techniques, and Model-based Control modular courses offered in-person and online throughout the calendar year.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with his lovely wife and two children.
