Guidelines for the 2010-2011 Scholarship Program

Following are the guidelines for the ISA - Houston Section Scholarship Program for the 2010-2011 academic school year, as approved by the Board of Directors.

  1. Scholarships are awarded to successful applicants who will attend an accredited technical school, college, or university as an undergraduate in the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 semesters as a full time student pursuing a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  2. Applicant must be nominated either by a Faculty Adviser who is a member of ISA or an ISA member who has attended a minimum of three (3) ISA-Houston Section monthly meetings or activities during the 2009-2010 ISA Houston Section fiscal year.
  3. Applicant must compose and submit an essay of no less than 500 words (typed) describing his/her future goals and the contribution that a scholarship would make in achieving those goals.
  4. Applicant must NOT be a recipient of any other Houston ISA scholarships in the current or the previous fiscal year. The ISA Houston Section scholarship will not be awarded to the same person in consecutive years.
  5. The applicant must submit an official copy of his recent high school or college transcript.
  6. The applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with the student (e.g. a teacher, coach, or minister) but not related (not a family member or guardian) to him.
  7. The applicant must submit a completed paper copy of ISA membership application (if not a member yet). The ISA Houston Section will pay for and process ONLY the winners’ dues for 2010.
  8. The applicant and the nominating party are encouraged to attend the scholarship award meeting of the ISA Houston Section. (Location to be announced)
  9. All scholarship payments will be submitted directly to the college or university where the scholarship recipient is enrolled to pay for normal tuition, enrollment fees, and textbooks for the specified school year.

Deadline for Application

To be considered, the application and associated documents must be postmarked no later than April 2, 2010. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants based upon the quality of essay, high school or college grades, accomplishments, and the letter of recommendation.
