Product Development Engineer (North Houston)

My client, a well-established and growing plastics manufacturer is seeking to ad an experienced Product Development Engineer to their team within Technical Services.

SUMMARY

You will provide product development support to the company’s manufacturing facilities as required. Take the lead in product development and product evaluations; provide technical support to sales and customers on company products, and other technical services activities as directed by Manager. As Product Development Engineer, you will Plan, direct, and coordinate activities and projects relating to design, processing, performance, and formulation of products by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Work with Company sales, engineering, and manufacturing staffs to define new product needs and performance requirements.
  • Specify and/or design new products and manage activities associated with product development, formulation, specification and performance of new products.
  • Assist various Company manufacturing facilities in specifying and sourcing raw materials.
  • Assist with raw material evaluations and sourcing of raw materials.
  • As applicable, work with legal to support patenting of developed products.
  • Coordinates work with vendors to successfully complete projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Direct testing of new product formulations to ensure fulfillment of specifications and performance.
  • Maintain awareness of plant production and processing operations in order to support plant needs.
  • Research new technology and raw material developments for application to Company products.
  • Answer incoming technical calls from customers and engineers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive knowledge of plastics processing, raw materials, and quality control. Basic knowledge of existing product line, product quality, and quality assurance practices. Must have the ability to travel both domestically and abroad as required, and possibly for extended periods.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 4 year technical degree preferably in chemical engineering
  • Minimum 8-10 years product development experience in a process type, manufacturing environment

They offer a range of wireless telemetry and SCADA applications across numerous vertical markets. The ideal candidate will help manage and grow a six state territory, with Texas as the core. The person will be the client's face to the market, help organize and lead sales and marketing initiatives into it, and also be the customer's voice back to the client.

Five + years demonstrated successful sales experience into the oil/gas market, ideally focused on natural gas production. Experience selling at all levels inside an organization. Channel partner experience a must. Technically competent and either knows, or is willing to learn RF technology. Virtual office, probably 50%+ travel. BS in an engineering vertical ideal.
