The Houston Section has a long history and much of it is not widely known. We are working on collecting more information about our past organization as well as content from our previous website. Please contact us if you can add to our archives.

Houston Section

The Houston Section was chartered on March 16th, 1948 and with approximately 1300 members, we are not only the largest ISA section in the world but also one of the oldest! The Houston Section will be the Host Section for ISA Automation Week 2010 (was also the Host Section for ISA EXPO ‘09) and participates closely with our subsections, ISA Houston Analysis and ISA Pipeline, to provide ongoing education and information to anyone interested in the Automation Industry.

Education

The Houston Section promotes education by hosting annual events, Chili Cook off! and Golf Tournament, to encourage participation in meetings and events and to raise money for scholarships.

Information

Meetings are usually held on first Wednesday at the HESS (Houston Engineering and Scientific Society) Club. By attending our meetings, Professional Engineers can earn PDH (Professional Development Hour) credits to meet their continuing education requirements.

About ISA

ISA – International Society of Automation – is the leading nonprofit global organization that is setting the standard for automation by helping its over 30,000 worldwide members and other professionals solve difficult technical problems while enhancing their leadership and personal career capabilities.

Automation professionals are essential to every manufacturing process. All industrial endeavors are the result of a series of complex operations or systems, and the complex systems must be regulated using various measurement and control devices. Technology is changing at a rapid pace – with more information out there than professionals have time to sort through alone. Through input from professionals throughout the world, ISA has the answer to nearly any technical question, saving the time it takes to search in multiple places for information.

By participating in the Society, automation professionals are smarter on industry issues, more valuable to their companies, and more effective at their jobs. Pure and simple, ISA is the one essential unbiased source to the world’s knowledge of automation.

Volunteer

The Houston ISA Board consists of volunteers. We serve because we believe in the goals of the society and that it's “good business.” Serving allows us to make a difference, network with important industry peers, and gain visibility within the industry both for ourselves and our employers. We are the ones who set the direction and are tasked to accomplish our objectives. We have done a lot of great things over the years! Our Board changes every summer and we may have open positions.

We are working on updating the current job descriptions from the old website. Please note that not all positions have completed job descriptions.

Do you want to serve? First check to see if there is any open position in our roster. If you are interested in any of the positions or just want to serve, simply contact the President via e-mail.
